Simple answer is that NO ONE likes to tap and what needs to be realized is that the more you tap the more you will learn from your mistakes. In my opinion Avoidance is the culprit!

Trying to flood themselves with knowledge too early. There are a lot of tools and resources out there (YouTube, books, magazines, etc.) that show a bunch of advanced techniques that I see a lot of white and blue belts going after too soon into their development.

Focus on understanding the concepts and (more importantly) the philosophies of the basics - sweeps, submissions, escapes. Once you're able to answer the question "how do they work?," it'll make a much easier road getting to the next level of techniques.

Also...bear in mind that even when you have a rough day at the gym, YOU GOT BETTER THAT DAY - whether you're able to realize it or not. Lick your wounds and learn the lesson.
